“No Disrepect But…” Paul Merson Delivers Verdict On West Ham’s Chances Of Hiring Ex PSG Head Coach

West Ham have no chance of hiring Mauricio Pochettino if they remain in the relegation places, according to Paul Merson.

The former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain head coach has been linked with replacing David Moyes as manager at the Hammers in recent days, but Merson has dismissed the possibility:

“No disrespect, but I would be shocked if Pochettino took that job at the moment where West Ham are.”

Although many West Ham supporters would be delighted if Pochettino was interested in succeeding Moyes, most would agree with Merson that it would be an unlikely appointment.

The Argentine has actually been mentioned as one of the favourites to replace Graham Potter at Chelsea and you would think that there is a greater chance of him ending up at Stamford Bridge.

With all that being said, though, a change of manager at West Ham is looking increasingly likely, unless Moyes can turns things around quickly. The bookies have made Rafa Benitez the leading candidate to come in if the Scotsman leaves, with Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou and former Wolves coach Nuno Espirito Santo also in the running.
