West Ham are still on the lookout for a new number nine this summer, with the Hammers having been linked with a fair number of strikers over the last few weeks.
Two of the most high-profile names have been Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and Southampton’s Danny Ings. When asked on Twitter which forward David Moyes should sign, there was a clear favourite among supporters:
Abraham no brainer

Not even up for discussion for me Abraham every day of the week, Ings injury prone and knocking on 30

Tammy easily. As good as Ings is, we Don’t need another injury prone player

Tammy, all day long.
Younger, less injury prone and IMO a better striker. C'mon @WestHam …GET. IT. DONE!!

Tammy. Younger, bigger ceiling, less injuries, suits our style more & resale value.
I do like Ings as a player but he’ll do better at other clubs than he would for us.— Kris Johnson (@kjohno10) July 27, 2021
Abraham every day

Should be Abraham, but what is the budget for new signings?

Tammy for me

It is surprising that the majority plumped for Abraham, considering Ings’ excellent goal record in recent seasons, although the Saints striker’s injuries are certainly a concern.
In regards to whether West Ham will actually make a move for Abraham, it is anyone’s guess. The 23-year-old is the London club’s number one target but they have been put off by Chelsea’s £40m asking price.
There are worries that another club could come in and hijack the deal. Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the striker very recently, although they are thought to be more interested in a loan deal.
