Newcastle are “ready to offer” €50m (£44m) for West Ham centre-back Issa Diop, according to Todofichajes.com. Despite the takeover of the club not having been finalised yet, the Spanish website insists the Magpies are already targeting potential signings.
Diop has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months but Todofichajes claim Newcastle are ready to take the lead in negotiations for the Frenchman.
The defender was signed by the Hammers from Toulouse for £22.5m two years ago, and while his second season at the London Stadium has not been as consistent as his first, he remains a key first-team player.
The state of West Ham’s finances during the ongoing health crisis mean it is likely that they will consider selling some of their top stars this summer.
However, it is believed that the Irons would want at least £60m for Diop, who is seen as one of the most promising centre-halves in Europe.
