Moyes Says He Would Sign Chelsea Teenage Sensation “Tomorrow” If He Had The Chance

West Ham manager David Moyes believes Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has a massive future ahead of him in the game.

When asked about which Scottish player he would sign if he was given the opportunity, he instantly plumped for the Blues teenager, while jokingly commenting that he could have him in exchange for Declan Rice.

“The one who if I could sign tomorrow, I would, is Billy Gilmour after his opening performances for Chelsea. He’s looked like a seasoned pro, he’s looked like somebody who’s hungry, who’s in love with the game.”

“I was laughing because I keep getting told that Chelsea want Declan Rice, so I thought well I might just decide I want Billy Gilmour and see how it goes.”

Gilmour does effectively play in the same position as Rice and for that reason, Chelsea’s interest in the Hammers star is quite surprising, consider manager Frank Lampard also has the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic at his disposal.

In any case, it is believed that West Ham will be extremely reluctant to let Rice leave when the transfer window reopens, and it would take an extremely high bid for them to even sell up. Hopefully, it will put off the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City who are said to be interested in the 21-year-old.
