Moyes Lists 26M Summer Signing’s Three Key Traits That Will Help Strengthen West Ham’s Squad

West Ham manager David Moyes claims that centre-half Kurt Zouma was always his “first choice” target to reinforce the backline this summer.

It took a number of weeks to get the £26m transfer over the line but Moyes believes the France international has a number of key attributes that will prove invaluable for the Hammers.:

“He will provide competition to our squad. He is a strong, powerful player with great experience in the Premier League while he is also at a good age for a centre-back.”

Zouma seems an ideal fit for West Ham’s style of play. At Chelsea, his somewhat limited passing range was exposed at times but, with the Irons, he will be asked to defend, first and foremost.

As Moyes mentions, he is a very powerful centre-back and one of his key strengths is his aerial ability, which should make him an imposing figure in both penalty boxes.

The Frenchman does have a fair amount of pace and, combined with his experiences at Chelsea, he should be ready to hit the ground running and make an instant impact.
