Moyes Has Made Statement On 22.5M West Ham Star’s Future Amid Liverpool Rumours

West Ham manager David Moyes has made it clear that centre-back Issa Diop will not be sold during the January transfer window.

Speculation has increased after the Frenchman was left out of the matchday squad for the 2-1 win against Leeds last week, with reports suggesting that Liverpool are among a number of teams who are watching the 23-year-old. However, Moyes says he has no intention of letting the defender leave the London Stadium:

“I’ve got no intention in letting any players go, and Issa’s certainly not (one of them). Issa’s one of the players we really like. He started in the team, he picked up the virus at the same time as I did, Fabian Balbuena has come in and played very well, you know that’s that’s what happens in football. But we’ve got no intention whatsoever letting Issa go. None.”

Diop signed from Toulouse for £22.5m in 2018 and he initially hit the ground running following his arrival with a string of good performances which saw him linked to the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

His second season, though, saw his form dip quite sharply and, with Fabian Balbuena having excelled in his absence at the start of the season, he will need to be patient as he waits for an opportunity to get back into the starting line up.
