Moyes hails players’ attitude as Hammers continue to shine

West Ham boss David Moyes will be delighted to pick up yet another well deserved point against tricky opponents Arsenal on Wednesday evening, as the Hammers continue to make their way up the table.

The Scot was a controversial appointment when he replaced the sacked Slaven Bilic last month, but recent results going his way will have certainly helped his cause, as he looks to become manager on a permanent basis come the end of the season.

West Ham faced 3 hugely daunting fixtures against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal, all of which the Hammers would’ve been expected to lose. But Moyes guided his team to a narrow defeat to City, victory against Chelsea and a hard earned point against Arsenal.

Speaking after the game against the Gunners, Moyes praised the improved attitude of his team and says it has played a big part in his side’s turnaround in fortune.

“I’m really enjoying it, first and foremost, both working with the players and being at the club,” he said.

“The staff, the training ground, it reminds me a bit of my old training ground at Everton, at Bellefield.

“A lot smaller, good atmosphere, everybody is involved, everybody is part of it.

“So right away we worked with the players and told them what we expect.

“Simply we’ve said, ‘if you don’t run, we won’t play you’.

“That had to improve but running isn’t the only part of the game we need to improve on. We need to improve on our passing and our all-round play.

“But I think if we do that then the crowd here will get behind us and, if you’ve been at the last couple of games, the crowd have been fantastic here.”
