Michael Owen Predicts The Outcome As West Ham Face Arsenal

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen is expecting a tight contest when West Ham take on Arsenal at the Emirates this afternoon.

Both sides suffered defeats in their last game, but Owen thinks that, while the Hammers won’t be affected by the loss to Manchester United, the Gunners’ confidence may have been knocked by losing to Olympiakos:

“Premier League high-flyers West Ham were unlucky to leave Old Trafford empty-handed last week. Although, when all is said and done, the defeat will be looked upon as a small blot on what otherwise has been an excellent season.”

“Despite losing on the night, Arsenal arrive here after falling to a 1-0 defeat at home to Olympiacos. That will have frustrated Gunners fans and although there is no real harm done, losing is never great for confidence.”

Owen predicts a 1-1 scoreline, which may be a bit harsh on West Ham, considering their excellent home record this campaign. David Moyes’ side have won eight, draw three and lost three at the London Stadium.

In stark contrast, Arsenal have won six, draw two and lost six on the road so there is every chance that the Irons could clinch the three points if it goes by the form book.

West Ham have competed very well against the traditional ‘big six’ teams, and they should have won the reverse fixture earlier this season, so fans should be optimistic heading into the match today.
