“Mega Money” Journalist Details Declan Rice’s Sky High Wage Demands

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice will be expecting to be paid around £200,000 a week from his next contract, according to Eurosport‘s Dean Jones.

The journalist claims that the player, his agent and his family believe it is commensurate to being an established England international, playing at the highest level:

“From conversations that happened at the start of this summer, from what I understand when his representatives, his family members, sounded out other clubs, they were given pretty good indication that we’re looking at £200k [a week] – upwards of that, even – to sign Declan Rice, as well as signing-on fees that are going to be included in that, and it’s a substantial deal on top of that huge transfer figure that West Ham are looking for. But Declan Rice, established England international, will believe that he is now worthy of that kind of money, and he’s going to place himself accordingly – and fair enough, to be honest.”

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all believed to be keen on Rice but it does look as though he could be priced out of a move away from the London Stadium.

Including the Hammers’ £100m asking price, the wage demands and signing-on fees would make any deal very expensive to complete.

West Ham supporters won’t be complaining though as, while Rice has reportedly turned down new contract proposals from the London club, he still has three years remaining on his current deal.

The Irons are, therefore, in an excellent position to keep the 22-year-old, and it appears it would take a lot of money for him to leave his current team.
