Mark Noble – “I’m one of Pogba’s biggest fans”

Mark Noble says he is one of Paul Pogba’s “biggest fans”, despite the pairs altercation in last night’s 0-0 draw at the London Stadium.

The duo came to blows after Pogba appeared to kick-out at Noble after a heavy challenge, with the Noble then responding by grabbing the Frenchman by the neck and face.

Both were booked for their part in the scuffle, however pundits were shocked that Noble did not see red for his part in the incident.

Pogba and Noble however embraced at the final whistle, and all appears to be forgotten after the West Ham midfielder’s glowing comments on the France international.

“I am one of Pogba’s biggest fans,” said Noble, “He gets more criticism than he deserves. He’s at one of the biggest clubs in the world and is under a lot of pressure, but sometimes I think we should embrace players like that when they’re in the Premier League, rather than criticise them.

“You can tell he really wants to do well and he’s a top, top player.”

Making light of the pair’s clash, Noble said: “I just wanted to get close to him and tell him how good he is!

“At the end I wished him the best of luck in the FA Cup final and at the World Cup in the summer.”

The point earned from last night’s draw takes West Ham to 15th place, and a win against Everton on the final day could see them finish in the top half of the table if other results go in their favour.
