Manchester United Vs West Ham United: FA Cup Fifth Round Match Preview & Injury News

West Ham United face a tough challenge in the form of Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Can the Hammers progress?

The Hammers are expected to be without Maxwel Cornet and Lukasz Fabianski for the game against United – additionally, Kurt Zouma and Vladimir Coufal are doubts.

Maxwel Cornet is recovering from a long term injury – he should be back in action in early March. Fabianski is facing a ‘lengthy spell on sidelines’ due a facial injury, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Coufal has been out of action with a heel injury, as Kurt Zouma continues to recover from his thigh problem.

In the previous round of the the FA Cup, West Ham needed to beat League One outfit Derby County to get this far. An early breakthrough from Jarrod Bowen gave the Irons the advantage, before Michail Antonio made it 2-0 in the second half – which would be the final score.

Manchester United, on the other hand, beat Paul Ince’s Reading in the fourth round of the cup. A Casemiro double and a third goal from Fred was enough to down the Royals, despite a late consolation goal from Amadou Mbengue. Additionally, former Liverpool and West Ham striker Andy Carroll was sent off in this game.

The Red Devils have just won England’s other major cup competition, the League Cup, as they defeated Newcastle United in the final. Can West Ham prevent United from completing a domestic double?
