Man Utd Tipped To Revive Interest In West Ham Defender Following Rangnick’s Recommendation

Manchester United could reignite a move for West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to reports in the French media.

The 25-year-old is closing in on the final year of his contract at the London Stadium and the Red Devils may look to take advantage of the situation.

Diop was a target for the Manchester side a few years ago, when Jose Mourinho was still manager, but the Frenchman’s dropoff in form led to speculation dying down.

However, Ralf Rangnick’s influence on recruitment could lead to United reviving their interest. The club’s interim manager identified Diop as a target when he was still working for the Red Bull group and he believes the centre-back could be a useful addition to the squad.

In terms of West Ham’s transfer stance, the Irons may well be prepared to cash in. Diop is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but he has never really been a regular starter under manager David Moyes. They could get a decent fee for the centre-back and cut their losses.
