West Ham midfielder Samir Nasri put in a very good display against his former club Arsenal at the weekend.
Despite having been sidelined due to a drugs ban for over a year, with just one competitive game under his belt since his comeback, manager Manuel Pellegrini opted to give him his first Premier League start versus the Gunners.
Nasri didn’t look at all rusty and provided the assist for the only goal of the game scored by Declan Rice. Supporters on Twitter praised the Frenchman after the match:
Nasri making West Ham tick just like Lanzini does. Lovely to see. ⚒⚒⚒ #COYI #WHUARS #WHUFC

What a signing Nasri is for West Ham. Always liked him but was weary of his attitude. Anyway yesterday’s performance showed how he can make the difference. Great player. #Nasri #WHUFC

When most were doubting about Nasri and giving him big money ONE man knew better it’s nice to have a manager who have complete trust in signing the right players for once #Pellegrini #whufc

The 31-year-old could be an inspired piece of business by the club, going by his first couple of displays for the Hammers. He looks like someone with something to prove, and having players with the hunger and desire to play for the club is key if the Irons want to push for a top half finish.
Nasri will need to keep his consistency, though, if he wants to secure a contract so he remains at the London Stadium beyond the end of the season.
