West Ham have announced that the club are exploring options with the London Stadium for moving seats closer to the pitch.
The athletics track has meant that getting seating closer to the action has not been possible in the past, but the Hammers are now believed to be looking at possible solutions.
Fans on Twitter believe this issue should have been dealt with a long time ago:
Long overdue but great news!!! ⚒

Great news if it’s true I’m bobby Moore upper with my young grandson good view but lose the atmosphere because we’re to far away from the lower tier

This would be great and a huge step in the right direction. The distance from the pitch has always been my biggest disappointment with the move. If they can bring us closer then it will start to feel a bit more like home for me. Plus help the atmosphere. Get us a close as you can

I stopped going to games purely because of how terrible the distance is.. please don’t just be empty promises

About time too!

Knocking it down would be a start

This is a positive step. However the real issue lies with those in the upper tiers and that awful gap which I imagine will get wider. It feels like you are on the outside looking in.

This would transform opinions of our fan base and make it worth the move.. Much needed improvements ahead.. Hopefully!! ⚒

Whether anything can be done about the distance between the stand and the pitch, it remains to be seen.
No doubt, the atmosphere at the stadium could well be improved by Hammers fans being closer to the action but many still don’t see the new ground as fit for purpose.
As it is not a purpose-built stadium for football, there is only so much that can be done to improve the matchday experience for fans. Supporters will be hoping the club can at least make some progress in terms of seating arrangements.
