Liverpool Set To Reignite Pursuit Of West Ham Star After Injury Comeback

Liverpool remain keen on signing West Ham attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini, according to reports in England.

The Argentinian international was linked with a move to Anfield last year, but the cruciate ligament injury he sustained in June put an end to any transfer speculation.

It seems, however, the Reds may look to reignite their interest in Lanzini now the 26-year-old is back fit.

Liverpool are apparently looking for a playmaker after pulling out of a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir last summer, with Lanzini having caught the Merseyside club’s eye as a possible alternative to the Frenchman.

The midfielder made his comeback from his long injury layoff in the 3-1 win over Fulham last Friday and is expected to feature against Manchester City this evening.

For his part, Lanzini has stated that he is happy to stay at West Ham for the long-term. Speaking about his return to full fitness, he said:

“We have many good things to work for in the future and I am looking forward to playing for Mr Pellegrini and his staff. We have a very strong squad here and hopefully, we can achieve good things this season and in the next seasons.”
