West Ham have contacted Sassuolo about the availability of Gianluca Scamacca, according to reports in the English media.
The Irons are looking for potential options to strengthen their forward line, and Scamacca is one of those that has come under consideration.
Scamacca is 6ft 5 and there have been some fans who have questioned whether West Ham would be signing another Sebastien Haller, but most supporters on Twitter feel the Italian international would be a good signing:
No Scamacca is literally the perfect West Ham striker signing

He is tall but gets around so much better than Haller! Most goals come from getting the ball in the box but he does have it in him to get behind the defence, 1 touch and shot opportunities. His goals are a mixed bag

Scamacca is strong and very quick but he’s also great technically, fantastic player

Scamacca is a lot more mobile despite being taller

He is better than Haller and a very good player ine general…but I don’t know if he fits in our play… maybe raspadori is better for us if we had to choose between these two

Sounds ideally suited to Moyes style

Reports in the Italian press suggest that Sassuolo may hold out for around €50m (£43m) to sell Scamacca, which would make him a very expensive purchase.
Other teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and even Chelsea have been mentioned as possible destinations in recent weeks, so competition for the player’s services will also be fierce.
At the moment, there is no indication that Hammers boss David Moyes will press ahead with a bid for Scamacca, and the London club are thought to be looking at other targets as well.
