Lawrenson Makes His Prediction For West Ham’s Game Against United

TV pundit Mark Lawrenson doesn’t think West Ham will get anything out of their game against Manchester United this evening.

Although he believes the Hammers did improve in the second half during their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday, he feels their opponents today will be too strong for them, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having struggled at home recently:

“West Ham lost again on Monday although they at least had a bit of a go in the second half at Chelsea. Manchester United were well beaten in midweek by a Barcelona side who kept them at arm’s length.”

“United’s performances in their home defeats against Barca, Paris St-Germain and Juventus have shown how far they are off the top clubs in Europe. They should still have too much for the Hammers, though.”

Lawrenson has gone for a 2-0 win for the home side; a result which wouldn’t come as a shock considering the London club’s recent results.

An awful home defeat to Everton followed by an ineffective display against Chelsea means Manuel Pellegrini’s side are not heading into the game with any sort of form.

Going into a match as underdogs has, though, suited this West Ham side on occasions this season, and with players like Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini on the counter-attack, they do have the potential to cause problems for any team.

Even so, their performances away from the London Stadium have been pretty poor with their only notable win coming against Everton at Goodison Park back in September.
