Latest West Ham Injury Report

West Ham will want to build on their first win of the season against Everton last time out with another victory against London rivals Chelsea.

The Hammers’ first three points at Goodison Park should give them a confidence boost heading into Sunday’s match.

However, they will be without Jack Wilshere, who has been sidelined for up to six weeks after having surgery on his ankle. Elsewhere, Marko Arnautovic is still being assessed by the club’s medical staff after sustaining a knee injury against the Toffees.

The Austrian international was substituted a few minutes after scoring the crucial third goal for the Irons, and he looks to be a doubt for the London derby.

Another striker could be back in contention for the game against Chelsea. Javier Hernandez was not in the matchday squad last time out because of a virus, but he may well be back for Sunday.

The Hammers do have three other long-term injuries to cope with. Manuel Lanzini is on the comeback trail after returning from his rehabilitation in Barcelona. The Argentinian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury before the World Cup and he is expected to return to fitness in the New Year.

Winston Reid also has a knee injury, and the New Zealander requires extensive recovery time to resolve the swelling that caused him to break down in pre-season.  Andy Carroll, meanwhile, could return before the end of the year after minor ankle surgery.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping that this injury list won’t get any worse over the next few weeks as he looks to improve on West Ham’s poor start to the campaign.
