Latest Hammers Injury News Ahead Of Everton And Man City Games This Week
West Ham been through a very tumultuous season so far between leaking the most goals in the Premier League and languishing in 17th place in the division a point away from the relegation zone after recording a point on Friday night in David Moyes’ first home game in charge of the Hammers after Slaven Bilic was relieved of his duties.
Moyes has enough to deal with as he tries to get his message across to the Hammers players and get them to buy into the approach he wants them to play with as their next game is against Moyes’ former club Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
The games that follow in December are Manchester City away followed by Chelsea and Arsenal at home so Moyes is gonna have to work some magic and quickly.
One point out of a possible 6 points is not a good start for David Moyes but he does have a number of injuries to content with but all teams do and as a top manager you have to be able to get the best out of entire squad.
It is hard to imagine given the 6 month contract Moyes was given by West Ham you would expect them not to back him strongly in the transfer market after their massive outlay in the summer window where they were only behind the top 6 clubs in transfer money spent.
Current West Ham players sidelined are:
- Winston Reed has a mild hamstring problem and will face a late fitness to determine if he is available for selection vs Man City
- Javier “Chicarito” Hernandez has a troublesome hamstring strain but could return in time for the weekend trip to face Man City but missed the trip to Everton on Wednesday night
- Jose Fonte has an ankle problem and is not expected back until the 4th week of January 2018
- Michail Antonio has been missed badly and has recovered from a badly bruised rib in time for the Everton and City games
- Full-back Sam Byram has a thigh problem and has a chance to be in the frame for selection for the games this upcoming week
- James Collins has a hamstring strain and his return is not certain at this stage
- Andy Carroll is the latest casualty as he is now sidelined with a knee problem that could keep him out until December 9th
So like most teams West Ham have their share of injuries but after their summer transfer activity you felt they had deepened the squad and were prepared to to fight for a top 6-8 position in the Premier League as well as a Cup run.
Right now anything that happens in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup is ok – obviously Moyes and company will want to win but the priority has to be Premier League survival.
