Lanzini Sets Out Ambition For Where He Hopes West Ham Can Finish In The League

West Ham attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini has set his sights on the Hammers finishing in a Europa League spot this season. The Argentine, who has recently signed a new four-year contract at the London Stadium, believes the club should aim high in their ambitions.

When asked if it was possible to break into the top six, Lanzini said that the team does have the potential to trouble clubs at the top of the table:

“Of course [we want to challenge for a top-six finish]! It is the ambition of all of us and the club, but we must work hard because every team wants this and the Premier League is hard, but we need [to] believe in ourselves and we can achieve this.”

“We have a lot of very good attacking players. We need to work hard because the ambition is to go to the Europa League and we need to concentrate on this.”

After losing 5-0 against Manchester City on the opening day, it didn’t look likely that West Ham could challenge near the top end of the league but there has been a big improvement in performances during recent games.

It is still far too early in the campaign to make predictions but they are already two points ahead of one of the ‘big six’ in Manchester United. Whether they can build on their decent start to the season, we shall see.
