La Liga side want West Ham United defender on season-long loan

West Ham United defender Reece Oxford is a target for La Liga side Eibar, according to reports.

Oxford spent last season on-loan in Germany with Borussia Monchengladbach, where he played only four times in a frustrating season for the teenager.

Upon his upon his return to the London Stadium however, the 19-year-old has found himself surplus requirements, with the Hammers having completed the signings of two new centre-backs – Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena – during the summer.

Spanish outlet Marca now report that La Liga side Eibar are willing to offer Oxford an escape from the London Stadium, and are willing to pay as much as £1.8 million to take him on-loan to Spain for the season.



West Ham are understood to be reluctant to part ways with the youngster, however could be tempted by the fee, as well as the opportunity to temporarily cut the defender from the wage bill after an expensive few months in the transfer market.

Dutch side AZ Alkmaar are also thought to be interested in Oxford, however it is believed Eibar are favourites to land him.

The Spanish club have less than two days to complete a deal for the defender however, with the Spanish transfer window closing at tomorrow.
