‘West Ham Don’t Sign Players Like That’ Former Hammer Makes Worrying Prediction For New Signing

Former West Ham United star John Paintsil has given his views on the signing of Mohammed Kudus in a recent interview conducted by Graphic.

Paintsil believes that Kudus is an excellent player – however, he does not think he will remain at the London Stadium for a considerable amount of time.

He says that West Ham ‘don’t sign players like that’ and that ‘in two or three years time, they can market him and make more money’. Kudus joined the Hammers for around £38 million plus add-ons on August 27.

What did John Paintsil say about Mohammed Kudus?

Speaking to Graphic, Paintsil said: “There is life after football and getting to West Ham, I will urge him to support his family more so that when he finishes his career, they will say that during your playing days this is what you did.

“I am speaking from experience because when the family is happy, you are also happy, but when they are not happy, it affects your play on the pitch. So that’s the little advice I will give him, he should focus more on family.

“He is a young player, that’s why they signed him for five years. West Ham don’t sign players like that. Before, they will give you that number of years, it means they’ve seen something in you, and they know that in two or three years time, they can market him and make more money.”

Will Kudus be a good signing for West Ham?

There is no reason why Mohammed Kudus cannot be a roaring success at West Ham. His electric pace, combined with wonderful dribbling ability and intelligent movement off the ball, make him incredibly dangerous in the final third.

However, Paintsil does have a point. West Ham have become known for selling their best players after a few years – we have seen superstars such as Dmitri Payet, Felipe Anderson and Declan Rice all leave the Hammers for greener pastures in the last decade.

Of course, it remains to be seen how long Kudus will stay with the Irons – if they wish to make a profit on him in the future, he will need to become a success first and foremost.
