KAA Gent Vs West Ham United Europa Conference League: Match Preview & Injury News

West Ham United are gearing up for a tough Thursday night encounter with KAA Gent in Belgium – can the Hammers progress to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League?

West Ham have just two injury concerns ahead of their game with Ghent. Gianluca Scamacca is set to miss out once again, as he continues to recover from his knee injury – on top of this, Lucas Paqueta is also a major doubt.

Paqueta’s injury isn’t thought to be serious – nothing more than a knock – but it could keep him off the field on Thursday if Moyes is unwilling to take a risk.

In the last round of the competition, West Ham defeated AEK Lacarna by a score of 6-0 over two legs. It was a comfortable tie for the Irons – their opponents rarely threatened in either game, as Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Divin Mubama all got their names on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Ghent were also dominant in their last 16 tie, as they defeated Istanbul Basaksehir by an aggregate score of 5-2. They drew the first leg 1-1 – however, the Belgians stepped up a gear in the second leg, winning by a score of 4-1.

When the whistle is blown at 5:45pm on Thursday evening, it will mark the first time the two teams have met since 1964, when they played each other in the UEFA European Winners’ Cup. In that game, West Ham emerged as 1-0 victors – can Moyes’ men repeat the feat?
