Jamie Carragher Delivers His Verdict On West Ham, Arsenal And Manchester United’s Top Four Chances

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes it will be difficult for West Ham to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Hammers dropped two vital points at Leicester yesterday and, with Arsenal having won against Wolves on Thursday, he believes that the Gunners do have the upper hand in the race for fourth:

“I think it will be tough for West Ham to get in the top four. Arsenal, what a win that was for them away to Wolves. The games in hand, no European football.”

Carragher does, however, suggest that one of West Ham’s rivals, Manchester United, may also struggle as they are still in Europe:

“You think about how long Manchester United will be in the Champions League, that could play a part. It feels like it will go to the wire.”

Of course, it should be pointed out that the Irons are in the knockout rounds of the Europa League too, but manager David Moyes has, so far, managed to juggle the responsibilities of playing in multiple competitions pretty well, with a fair amount of rotation helping to keep players fresh.

There’s no doubt that West Ham will be underdogs in the top-four battle but, with every contender dropping points, they are very much still in with a shout.
