Jacob Steinberg Confirms Chelsea Star Has Snubbed West Ham Switch

West Ham have failed with an ambitious move to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on loan, according to The Guardian‘s Jacob Steinberg.

The Hammers were hoping to persuade the England international into leaving Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis but they were told that the player had no interest in making the switch:

Manager David Moyes has been looking to improve his options in midfield all summer, but he has faced a number of problems in getting players through the door at the London Stadium.

Enquiries for Napoli pair Fabian Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski have been knocked back, while they agreed a fee with Lille for Amadou Onana, only for the deal to be hijacked by Everton.

Earlier in the summer, there were a number of reports suggesting that Moyes was interested in signing Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, so there is a possibility that West Ham could revisit that potential alternative before the transfer window shuts.
