It’s been an odd season, but West Ham can still end on a high

Most West Ham fans will still be trying to work out quite what Darren Randolph was doing to allow Fabio Borini to score Sunderland’s equaliser at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, however, those within the club will have moved on to what lies ahead, the visit of Ronald Koeman and his Everton side.

The Hammers first season at the London Stadium will not be one that is fondly remembered by most fans in claret and blue, with troubles both on the pitch and in the stands marring what was supposed to be a new era in the club’s history.

Whilst their have been games to remember, an EFL Cup win over London rivals Chelsea for example, there have been plenty to forget in Stratford so far this season.

With nothing tangible left to play for this season, Slaven Bilic’s players can take to their final home games without pressure and look to end the season on a high note in order to build for next season, when similar failings will not go unpunished.

Although the season is set to end with a mid-table finish, the final weeks can still be memorable at the London Stadium, with their three remaining visitors being Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool, all three of which should be fiery encounters to say the least.

Koeman’s side will be desperate to win every point available as they look to pile the pressure on the top six and break the mould which has stood firm all season long and, with their open and attacking style offering the chance for Bilic’s side to get in behind and create plenty of chances.

Next up, and undoubtedly the most exciting of the remaining games in Stratford this season, is a Friday Night Football clash with bitter London rivals, and newly boosted title contenders, Tottenham.

The chance to perhaps end Spurs’ title hopes with a win at the London Stadium is one that should not pass the players by, and will certainly not be lost on those in the stands.

Rounding off their home season with a clash against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side offers the east Londoners yet another chance to create a memorable afternoon at the London Stadium as they look to make the place home.

Fans have, slowly but surely, begun to grow more and more accustom to their new surroundings, however, it can only become their new fortress when the side perform on the pitch and create lasting memories, something which can begin with the visit of Everton this weekend.
