“It’s A Mess Right Now” Source Close To Negotiations Claims West Ham Are Ready To Walk Away From 26M Transfer

West Ham are ready to abandon talks with Racing Genk if the Belgian club don’t lower their asking price for Paul Onuachu, according to OwnGoalNigeria.com.

The website reports that the Hammers are refusing to meet Genk’s €30m (£26m) valuation of the player, with the London club believing €15m (£13m) is a fairer offer.

Speaking to Own Goal Nigeria, an insider source claims that West Ham could well pull the plug on negotiations if there isn’t a shift in Genk’s negotiating position:

“It’s a mess right now because Onuahu want[s] to leave but Genk’s asking price is scaring away suitors. Even the much talked about West Ham deal is in jeopardy after initial talks. He is 26 and clubs expect Genk to be modest in their demands but that is not the case at the moment.”

Onuachu did have an excellent season for Genk, scoring 35 goals in all competitions, and it seems his club are trying to capitalise on his excellent campaign by asking for a high transfer fee.

If West Ham do decide to withdraw their interest in the Nigerian international, though, the striker could yet still end up playing in the Premier League, with both Brighton and Arsenal having also been linked with the player in recent weeks.
