It’s A Merry Christmas For Hammers Fans As They Are Out Of The Bottom 3

Under the stewardship of David Moyes West Ham have now climbed out of the bottom 3 so if the season were to end today they would avoid relegation.

David Moyes was a somewhat controversial replacement for many Hammers fans as they did not like the idea of Moyes being the new manager to replace the dearly loved former player and now former manager of West Ham Slaven Bilic.

Bilic has now been heavily linked with the job at Swansea City after Paul Clement was fired a day ago – we shall see what happens there.

However Moyes has actually delivered on what he promised when he took over saying that the team would become hard to beat and that they would still attack in a proactive way not just parking the bus.

The West Ham results over Moyes’ tenure so far have not been much better than under Bilic as in his 9 games at the helm in all competitions the former Man United boss has lost 5 games, drawn 2 games and won 2 games.

The Hammers lost to Watford 2-0 in the first game under Moyes, drew with Leicester City 1-1 and then got well beaten by his former side Everton 4-0 before they gave Man City a real game only losing 2-1 to a late City goal.

It is after the City game that West Ham improved as they got some real confidence from holding Man City to such a competitive game and then the Hammers beat Chelsea 1-0 for Moyes first win. They then went on to hold Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in the Premier League before beating Stoke City in the League 3-0 away.

Another loss came to Arsenal in the 1/4 final of the Carabao Cup where they went down to a 1-0 defeat only 6 days after they drew 0-0 in the League.

Their most recent loss came against Newcastle at home 2-3 where they should have at least got a point.

Even though the results don’t seem great the players are more committed and confident and the fact they are out of the bottom 3 relegation places now is not something many of the Hammers faithful thought would be the position they would be in at Christmas when Moyes was appointed.

Record signing Marko Arnautovic has been a different player under David Moyes and is starting to justify his pricetag and play with the pace and power he has plus he has been scoring.

Hopefully it is a case of onwards and upwards and we will have to see how heavily the owners back David Moyes in the upcoming transfer window as he is only on a 6 month contract.
