Is Manuel Pellegrini The Right Fit For West Ham United?

Manuel Pellegrini is the new West Ham United manager. The Chilean, known predominantly in England for his exploits with Manchester City, has 30 years of managerial experience to his name and West Ham should improve with the seasoned campaigner at the helm.

David Moyes had a solid enough tenure but the Hammers showed no sign of progression during his brief stint at the London Stadium – most fans agree that a change was needed. Fortunately, the board decided to act and that meant Moyes out, Pellegrini in.

The Hammers finished 13th in the Premier League table last season; their fourth bottom-half finish in the last five years. Under Pellegrini though, West Ham can get back to where they should be – fighting for the Europa League places.

Different Attitude, Different Approach… Different Results?

The platform for success is there but they need the right man at the helm. Sam Allardyce, David Moyes and Slaven Bilic all failed in their attempts to keep West Ham fighting in the top half of the Premier League table. Pellegrini will not settle for any nonsense on the training ground and any issues are likely to be resolved behind closed doors.

Remember when Moyes called out Declan Rice for a mistake in the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in April? Pellegrini will take a more level-headed approach to dealing with any individuals, much to the delight of West Ham supporters. Let’s be honest, nobody wants to see young players getting thrown under the bus by a manager.

West Ham To Take Inspiration From England?

For the time being, West Ham fans are focusing on England and the World Cup. Can Gareth Southgate’s side take inspiration from ex-Hammers Bobby Moore and Sir Geoff Hurst as the current crop of stars look to follow in the footsteps of those heroic Lions from 1966?

Former manager Sam Allardyce has tipped England, who are 8/1 to win, to enjoy a successful World Cup and there will be a few Hammers fans out supporting the national side in Russia. The West Ham faithful will be hoping that success for England can inspire the London side to a much-improved campaign in 2018/19.

A Proven Winner, Pellegrini Is Perfect For Hammers

Fortunately for the Hammers, Pellegrini is a proven winner and his mentality on the training ground and in the dressing room could be the main difference to the likes of Allardyce and Moyes.

Manuel Pellegrini ticks all the right boxes for West Ham United – fans will be excited to see what the future holds for the club. Pellegrini will need to spend heavily in order to build the squad to his style of play and the Hammers could soar up the Premier League table.

A top-half finish will satisfy most West Ham supporters next season and Pellegrini looks like the ideal man to bring the glory days back to east London. Watch this space; the Hammers could be destined for a positive 2018/19 campaign.
