West Ham may pull out of their move for Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe, according to reports in the French media.
The France international is available for €15m (£13.7m), and the Hammers and Crystal Palace have both been linked with the Ligue One star.
However, it appears Sidibe has a long-standing issue in his right knee which may see West Ham ending their interest in the 27-year-old.
Most of the transfer talk regarding Sidibe has come from the French end of things, and it would be surprising if the Irons were indeed focused on signing a right-back before the transfer window closes.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini already has two first-choice right-backs, in Ryan Fredericks and Pablo Zabaleta, and the London club’s most pressing need is to strengthen their forward options.
Even so, Sidibe is a talented player. The defender has 18 caps for France at senior level and could be a long-term replacement for Zabaleta, who is leaving the club at the end of the season.
