Injury Blow Could See West Ham Pursue Loan Deal For 41M Defender

West Ham could make a loan offer for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake in the January transfer window, according to reports in the English media.

The club have confirmed that Kurt Zouma tore a hamstring against Chelsea and he could be out for a number of months, leaving David Moyes with just two fit centre-backs in Craig Dawson and Issa Diop.

Ake was snapped up by City from Bournemouth for £41m in 2020 but the 26-year-old has barely got a look-in over the past eighteen months, with manager Pep Guardiola favouring the likes of Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones.

The Hammers are hoping that the Premier League champions will be open to loaning the Dutchman out for the remainder of the season. Moyes is said to be keen on recruiting a left-footed centre-half, meaning Ake would be a better fit than their other main target James Tarkowski.

With Zouma expected to be out for a long period of time, it’s likely that West Ham scouts will be looking at a number of other names to ensure a signing is made in January.
