West Ham are still hopeful that they can sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma before the transfer window closes, according to reports in the English media.
The Hammers have already lost out on Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, who agreed to sign a new contract with his current club, while the deal for Zouma has also been fraught with difficulty.
Personal terms are said to be the main sticking point in negotiations, with no breakthrough seemingly on the horizon, and fans on Twitter are not optimistic that a deal will be agreed:

While it would be nice to make a signing or 3, why can we not do this like others before the season starts not when Window closes when 3 or 4 games have past…?

It’s fair to say that it has been a very disappointing summer for West Ham in the transfer market. A centre-back and a striker were the priority targets but neither has been secured with just days left to go before the window shuts.
Zouma would definitely be a good addition to David Moyes’ squad and we shall see if there are any developments over the next week or two.
