“If Anybody Comes Calling…” Moyes Says West Ham Talisman Can Leave Club But Only On One Key Condition

David Moyes

West Ham manager David Moyes has warned clubs interested in signing Declan Rice that he will be “extremely expensive” if they make an approach for the midfielder this summer.

The club captain put in an outstanding performance against Manchester United at the weekend and, when it was suggested to him that such displays would attract the attention of other teams, Moyes replied:

“Yes, that’s why he is probably the best English midfield player around and that is why he is going to be extremely expensive if anybody comes calling.”

Rice’s refusal to sign a new contract will likely force the London club into a sale but, from Moyes’ remarks, it seems they won’t let him leave without a fight.

While some journalists have claimed that the Hammers could be willing to do business for between £75m and £85m, you would have to think that they will hold out for a figure above £100m.

Arsenal are believed to be the favourites to snap up Rice at this stage, with Manchester United and Chelsea also likely to get involved, but a lot will depend on who is willing to meet West Ham’s demands.
