“I Wouldn’t Be Surprised To See Him Clear Off…” BBC Pundit Predicts 35.5M Signing Will Make Swift Exit From West Ham

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca could be set to leave the London Stadium just a year after joining the Hammers, according to BBC pundit Chris Sutton.

Despite the Italian international’s goal against AEK Larnaca midweek, Sutton believes the forward has shown a lack of commitment to the club and he expects him to move back to Italy this summer:

“I’m not so sure his heart is in it, that’s the truth. Three Premier League goals this season, I think he has let David Moyes down in a way. I think that David Moyes would have expected far more from the Italian centre-forward. I think that he’s a very talented player, but I’m not sure he’s totally committed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him clear off back to Italy in the summer.”

West Ham paid Sassuolo £35.5m for Scamacca back in July but, as Sutton points out, he has only scored three league goals during his time in England.

Injuries have certainly played their part but manager David Moyes has also hinted that the 24-year-old has not put in the required effort in training to reach the physical fitness levels he expects from his players.

Scamacca’s goal on Thursday night has added to the clamour among Irons supporters for the striker to start more often but it remains to be seen if the player has a long-term future at the London club.
