Ajax defender Joel Veltman has revealed that he is keen on leaving the Eredivisie side this summer.
West Ham have reportedly been tracking the 27-year-old for some time, and speaking about his future in recent days, the Dutchman said:
“I have not made it a secret that I want to go abroad, so we look at what is going to happen.”
Veltman has just one year left on his contract and with the player looking for a way out, Ajax may well decide to sell up.
The Hammers are not the only team interested in the fullback, though, with a number of Serie A teams also believed to be keen on the player.
Veltman is unlikely to be a top priority for Director of Football Mario Husillos and manager Manuel Pellegrini, with the club already having two right-backs in Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks.
However, the Dutchman is also adept at playing at centre-half and could be a target if the Irons are looking to strengthen their options in the centre of defence.
