‘He’s Destined For Big Things’ ‘But Arsenal Will Get Him’ Fans Discuss West Ham’s Interest In Teenage Defender

West Ham could challenge Arsenal in the race to sign Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 19-year-old moved to Italy from Hearts in September 2020 and he has gone on to excel in Serie A over the past eighteen months.

Hammers fans on Twitter would back a move for Hickey but some fear that they may not be able to compete with Arsenal for his signature:

Manager David Moyes is keen on recruiting a long-term replacement for Aaron Cresswell and Hickey does seem to be a perfect fit.

Fans who are worried that the Scotland international may favour Arsenal should also bear in mind that the fullback turned down Bayern Munich before joining Bologna as he wanted more first-team football.

With Kieran Tierney being first choice left-back for the Gunners, he may not get regular game time at the Emirates, so you can’t rule out West Ham winning the race for Hickey’s signature.
