Hernandez insists he is happy at West Ham

West Ham star Javier Hernandez has played down reports that he is unhappy at the club and wants to leave in the January transfer window.

Hernandez has been a bright spark in a Hammers season that has so far been fairly average, scoring three goals since his £16m move from Bayer Leverkusen.

However the striker has been shifted to the left wing by manager Slaven Bilic in order to accommodate Andy Carroll, a position he is unfamiliar with, and various reports have claimed that the former United star is unhappy with his role at the London Stadium.

It has resulted in rumours of Chicharito potentially handing in a transfer request, and subsequently leaving the club in January. However, the 29-year-old striker has dismissed these reports, calling them lies.

Talking via his official Twitter account, Hernandez responded to suggestions that he is unhappy at West Ham, tweeting: “That’s a lie! I’m very happy at West Ham!! #COYI.”

Chicharito was on the score sheet for Mexico during their 3-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, and will be expected to provide plenty more goals for the Hammers during the season.

It is good that Hernandez has clarified his position at West Ham, now let’s hope the Hammers can kick on and get into a position that we know the squad is capable of.
