West Ham United launched their new kits for next season earlier this week, much to the delight of the Hammers fans.
The launch saw a number of the club’s players, including Marko Arnautovic, Mark Noble and Declan Rice line-up alongside West Ham legend’s to model the tasty looking new Umbro strip.
Trevor Brooking, Billy Bonds and Carlton Cole all made an appear …. Stop. Sorry, who?
Yes, that’s right. The one, the only, Mr Carlton Cole ladies and gentleman. Forget Bonds and Brooking.
Cole, who left West Ham in 2015 after nine seasons at the Boleyn Ground, stole the show as he modelled the new strip – with memories of his 2012 play-off final goal that steered the Hammers back to the Premier League being being stirred in the memories of the Claret and Blue army.
A club legend (well, sort of, at least), one question remains: is he on his way back to West Ham?
The former England international is currently a free agent (he’s also retired, but that’s besides the point) after leaving Indonesian club Persib Bandung last year, and is yet to find himself a new club.
At 34-years-old, Cole may be in the final stages of his career, but, like a fine wine – his best in a West Ham shirt could just come with age. Could he a Hammer once more? (ps, the answer is no. But it’s still ok to dream)
I’m really confused as to why Carlton Cole was in the new kit
