‘Has The Penny Finally Dropped’ ‘Ya Think?’ – Fans Not Convinced As West Ham Star Promises A Change In Attitude

West Ham striker Javier Hernandez has promised that the players are doing all they can to improve their consistency levels.

The Hammers suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to relegation strugglers Cardiff last time out, and the Mexican believes it’s up to the team to change their mindset so they play with the same attitude against any opponent:

“That mindset needs to change in this club and we need to do that between now and the end of the season and, if we can do that, we can still get seventh position.”

“We need to have the motivation inside all of us that we want to be better players and want to win a spot in the starting eleven because when you’re in a very good club you have 25 players but only eleven starters and everyone wants to play and wants to start.”

“I guess that’s the mindset we need to have consistently. It doesn’t matter if we are playing against Liverpool or Manchester City or Cardiff or Huddersfield, we need to do our best.”

Supporters on Twitter say they have heard the same thing many times before:

Hernandez has been one of those players who has flattered to deceive on occasions this season. The 30-year-old has been a first-team regular in recent weeks but has scored just one goal since the turn of the year.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has already said he will be holding talks with the squad about the club’s poor away form this week. Their performances away from the London Stadium have been a major cause of the club’s inconsistent results.

The Hammers have scored just one goal in their last six league matches on the road, with their last victory coming at Southampton back in December.
