Hammers to announce David Moyes as manager despite Twitter meltdown as fans reject the appointment

West Ham United look set to announce former Everton boss David Moyes as manager this week after they parted company with Slaven Bilic on Monday.

Bilic’s time at West Ham certainly had its ups and downs, but the Croat leaves the Hammers in the relegation zone after a poor start to the season.

West Ham released a statement after confirming Bilic’s tenure had ended, saying the club believed a change was necessary “to move forward positively and in line with their ambition”.

It is now understood that former Manchester United, Sunderland and Everton boss David Moyes will take over from Slaven as manager, making the Scot the 16th manager in the club’s history.

Moyes will supposedly sign a deal until the end of the season with the Hammers, and his first match in charge could come against Watford at Vicarage Road on November 19th, giving him plenty of time to settle into the role.

Hammers fans when interviewed on Sky Sports News seemed to think appointing Moyes was a bad choice and a cheap option since he is out of work at the moment.

The idea of David Moyes as the West Ham boss (reportedly on a 6 month contract) made West Ham fans go into meltdown on Twitter as they made their feelings clear with displeasure at the possible replacement for the axed Slaven Bilic as you can see below…

Moyes had already expressed an interest in the job at West Ham before Bilic was relieved of his duties, telling beIN Sports: “I’ve always said I want to go back into club management and if the right opportunity comes around, then I’ll be interested.

“I’ve been there myself, I know what Slaven is going through at the moment. He must be hating it and wanting to get a result as quickly as he can. If it becomes available yes, but at the moment it’s not available.”

Ultimately it is his results which will dictate how Moyes does and if he gets the Hammers up the table the fans will likely warm to him.
