Hammers star gives huge injury update

West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini has cleared up reports that his knee injury will keep him out or the entire 2018/19 season.

The Argentina international was ruled out of the World Cup earlier this month after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in training, something which required surgery.

These types of injuries often keep players out for over 6 months at a time, but there were fears Lanzini would face a much lengthier spell on the sidelines due to various claims from newspapers who stated that there were problems with the Argentine’s surgery.

Shortly after his surgery, West Ham confirmed that the player would spend a few weeks recovering in Spain before heading back to London, and recently took to Twitter in order to dismiss claims that the surgery was botched.

He wrote: “Some English media have said that my injury will make me miss next season, that there were problems with the surgery… none of this is true.

“The surgery went really well. Although I don’t want to set a date, I expect to be ready to play at the beginning of 2019. Thank you.”
