Hammers reject £14 million bid from Swansea for club’s top scorer

West Ham United have rejected a £14 million bid from Swansea for top scorer Andre Ayew, according to reports from The Telegraph.

Ayew has scored six times this season, leaving him joint on goals with summer signing Marko Arnautovic.

The Ghanian has however fallen by the wayside since the arrival of David Moyes at the London Stadium, having found the net only once in 11 games since the Scotsman took over from Slaven Bilic in early November.

Despite his poor form, it appears West Ham still remain keen on keeping hold of the former Marseille star after having rejected a bid from another of his former clubs Swansea City.

Ayew is a priority target for new Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal, who is keen on bringing the former Swan back to the club he made his mark in England with as he looks to bolster his squad to try and avoid relegation.

Having had their first bid for Ayew rejected however, Swansea will now have to break their club record transfer fee in order to bring the forward back to the Liberty Stadium, which stands at the £15.5 million paid for former Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston in the summer of 2016.

West Ham signed Ayew for £20.5m from the Welsh club in the same summer, however may be forced to hang on to the Ghanian after a recent injury to fellow striker Andy Carroll which may see the Englishman out for as long as two months.
