“Good Pedigree…” West Ham Backed To Secure Free Transfer Signing Of 23 Year Old Defender

West Ham would be doing a smart piece of business if they do secure Dan-Axel Zagadou on a free transfer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Reports in France suggest that the Hammers are the frontrunners to secure the 23-year-old’s services and O’Rourke claims the defender would be a decent addition to David Moyes’ squad:

“Zagadou is probably one of the better free agents that are still out there in the market right now. He’s got [a] good pedigree having played for Borussia Dortmund and played at the highest level in the Champions League as well.”

As O’Rourke points out, Zagadou is definitely one of the best free agents out there. It wasn’t long ago that the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea were pursuing the centre-back’s signature.

There are, however, big question marks about his fitness following a number of serious injuries, and that is likely the reason why no team has taken a gamble on signing him until now.

West Ham are pretty well covered in the centre of defence, but the possible departure of Craig Dawson in January could be mitigated if Zagadou is snapped up before then.
