Gianluca Di Marzio Names The Three Clubs Who Are Favourites To Sign Darwin Nunez

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has narrowed down the list of potential suitors for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez to three Premier League clubs.

West Ham had a €45m (£38m) bid rejected for the Uruguayan international at the end of the January transfer window and there was some hope that the Hammers would go back in for him this summer. However, Di Marzio believes three other teams are currently likelier to sign the player:

“I think Darwin Nunez is going to the Premier League. Manchester United or Arsenal or Tottenham. We don’t know where he’s going but for sure the Premier League has to be his next step.”

Nunez has also been linked to other sides, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid but it looks as if the 22-year-old has already given priority to specific clubs.

With Benfica now thought to be demanding at least €80m (£68m) for the forward, Nunez would have been out of West Ham’s price range anyway. Manager David Moyes is almost certainly focusing his efforts on other options.

Chelsea’s Armando Broja is thought to be one of the targets, while the likes of Barcelona’s Memphis Depay and Lille’s Jonathan David have also been mentioned as possible candidates.
