Gianluca Di Marzio Makes Surprise Transfer Claim As West Ham Eye 35M Deal For Spurs And Arsenal Target

West Ham are interested in signing Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

The respected journalist claims that the Hammers have joined the likes of Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund in the race to snap up the 23-year-old:

Spurs are already believed to have had an offer for Zaniolo turned down, with Roma said to be holding firm on their £35m asking price.

Arsenal were also mentioned as potential suitors in reports from Italy yesterday but it appears that they have now switched targets to Brighton’s Leandro Trossard.

With the Gunners out of the picture, it will mean there is slightly less competition for West Ham to contend with, but it remains to be seen whether they can afford Zaniolo.

David Moyes’s side are set to spend £12m on Aston Villa’s Danny Ings and they are also targeting Lorient’s Terem Moffi, who could cost £25m. Splashing more cash on Zaniolo does seem unlikely but we shall see how this story progresses in the coming days.
