Ajeti is 22 years of age and can also play on the right-wing if required. He had an excellent season for Basel last campaign, having scored 21 goals and contributed 11 assists in 43 appearances.
With manager Manuel Pellegrini’s striking options having been depleted this summer by the departures of Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez, a new forward was certainly needed.
Ajeti will likely deputise for Sebastien Haller, with Javier Hernandez also expected to provide competition for places up front. The Mexican had been tipped to leave the London Stadium but he is now likely to stay at the club.
