Papy Djilobodji – Chelsea (2015)
Manager Jose Mourinho wanted Raphael Varane or John Stones to shore up his defence but he was given a little-known Senegalese defender from Nantes instead.
Unsurprisingly, Djilobodji only made one appearance for Chelsea, which was a brief cameo in the League Cup. Within a few months, he was loaned out to Werder Bremen before leaving for Sunderland on a permanent basis.
