West Ham have confirmed that they have signed Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard on loan for the rest of the season.
The Hammers will pay a £1.5m loan fee for the 28-year-old, as well as covering his wages, and they don’t have the option to buy the England international in the summer. However, fans on Twitter think it was the right decision to sign him:

Needed a change of scenery and a chance to play back on the wing.

I’m happy with him tbh⚒

I’d imagine his doubters are predominantly the same individuals who wrote off Dawson before he’d kicked a ball for us. Lingard is a pretty decent squad addition and personally I’m looking forward to seeing him show exactly what he can do.

Moyes has got his signings bang on so far. Trust his judgement

He certainly has ability and could like so many others before him set the place alight.

It remains to be seen whether Lingard will turn out to be a good piece of business for West Ham. He has barely featured for United over the last year and he will almost certainly be rusty in his first few appearances.
Even so, he is an experienced player and he will be able to fill in as the number ten, or on either flank, giving manager David Moyes some much-needed depth and flexibility in the frontline. It will be hoped that he can recapture the form he showed for both club and country a few years ago.
