West Ham are not “frontrunners” to snap up Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar on loan this month, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on his Patreon, the Hammers insider explained that the Cameroon international’s future is uncertain after Cristiano Ronaldo joined his team following the Portuguese forward’s departure from Manchester United, but a switch to the London Stadium is still unlikely:

“Vincent Aboubakar, whose future is under question at his current club Al Nassr after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo,” wrote the reliable West Ham source He has a number of suitors and there is talk that the Saudi team are prepared to let him leave on loan or a free which could tempt us. West Ham are not said to be one of the front runners at this point, however.”

Aboubakar is a strong target man, and would certainly suit David Moyes’ style of play. However, he is a somewhat controversial figure, having slated Liverpool’s Mo Salah in an interview last year before claiming he is just as talented as the Egyptian forward.

In terms of West Ham’s general plans for the January transfer window, funds are expected to be tight after splashing out £160m on signings over the summer but a new striker is being considered.

Along with Aboubakar, the Irons are said to be keeping tabs on Lorient’s Terem Moffi and Aston Villa’s Danny Ings.
