West Ham are said to be one of the Premier League clubs keen on signing Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet this summer.
Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham have also been mentioned as potential destinations for the France international, but insider source ExWHUemployee claims he does not know for sure whether the Hammers are interested in the centre-back:
“There’s been talk of Lenglet, who I think is a French centre-back at Barcelona. Now, I don’t know if there’s truth in that one yet, I haven’t had it confirmed or not, the only thing I would say is that Barcelona are in financial difficulties, which is why the likes of [Martin] Braithwaite and him have been linked with clubs that are looking for players in that position. So, we are looking for a centre-back, but I need to have a few more enquiries come back on that one before I can say for certain whether it is [accurate] or not.”
Ex is right to point out that West Ham are looking to sign a centre-back so there could be some credence to reports that they are looking at Lenglet.
However, there has already been some claims that the Frenchman is not interested in leaving the Camp Nou, but Barca’s financial problems may lead to him being forced out if a good enough bid is made for the 26-year-old.
At this stage, though, we don’t even know whether the Irons are, in fact, pursuing Lenglet’s signature but, considering he has won the La Liga title during his time at Barcelona, he would certainly be a strong addition to the squad if he were to arrive at the London Stadium.
